A somber tale about motherhood, regrets, and class divisions in France, actress-director Nicole Garcia’s newest film, Milo offers a star vehicle for lead Marion Cotillard, who delivers a nuanced and emotional performance.

What Remains features two compelling central performances and offers a poetic rumination about how to balance the creative process with the demands of life in society. Ustaoglu previously won the top Golden Shell Award in 2008 for Pandora’s Box (Pandora’nin Kutusu).

A gentle meditation on aging and life’s small pleasures, In My Father’s Room marks bestselling Japanese novelist Harada’s debut as a film director.

With Brace Your Heart (Garrat du Vaimmu), Swedish-Sami director Amanda Kernell has crafted a love letter to her father’s culture and the disappearing lifestyle of reindeer herders across the Sami region of northernmost Scandinavia. The film picked up a Special Jury Award in Toronto and won Best Director at SSIFF.
